With all of our sheds from Albany, unless requested on order, they are coated in a protective preservative included in the price which is called a travel coat. This coat of preservative is applied to protect the garden shed during the delivery and initial installation process. Albany however recommend that the entire building will need to be treated in a good quality timber treatment. Furthermore, the Albany hardwood doors which are fitted on many of the summerhouses, must be treated with a quality treatment in order to ensure that the building/doors are covered by the supplier's warranty, in accordance with a notice that Albany recently forwarded to us.
Please make sure to properly seal all doors and windows during self-assembly or after our installation team has installed them because Albany will not replace any that have not been properly protected. Please be aware that this is not something that our installation service will handle. To confirm that the Albany warranty covers you:
1) As soon as possible after assembly, a waterproof stain like Sadolin should be applied to both sides (including top and bottom) of hardwood doors and windows.
2) We advise using two coats of Beautiflex or Superdec, or applying Sadolin Classic first and Sadolin Extra on after.
If for any reason you do need to make a claim for one of the doors on your shed these are the details that we will need to send to Albany on your behalf:
1) The date of assembly.
2) The date doors were treated.
3) Evidence of product usage
4) Verify that all sides are sealed.
For warranty claims involving warped doors, we could also ask you to remove the door so it can be checked with a level or flat edge to make sure the door isn't being pushed out by something else on the base of building.
